About Us
For more than 15 years, Bellese has worked at the intersection of technology and public health, partnering with the organizations responsible for some of the largest healthcare systems in the country.
Bellese believes that U.S. healthcare systems need to move from a provider-centric model to a patient-centric one. This belief is what got us started, and it still drives everything we do: building innovative, human-centered solutions that help public organizations deliver better outcomes for the people they serve.
Our Impact
Since our founding in 2009, we have supported the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in maintaining and modernizing the critical systems that run Medicare, a program serving more than 66 million Americans. We design products that cut through complexity, support better decisions, and reduce burden, so the people running these programs can keep their focus on patient care and better health outcomes.

Healthcare Roll Call
Senior housing and nursing homes needed a faster way to stay connected with local health departments during crises. We partnered with Code for Baltimore and the Baltimore City Health Department to build an open-source platform that made that possible. The project landed on the front page of the Baltimore Sun.

Healthcare Payment System Modernization
QMARS is a federal case management system that supports the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) program. It's the platform that healthcare reviewers use to process patient complaints and appeals, and that CMS uses to monitor and improve the quality of Medicare care nationwide.We've spent years improving how that system works for its users.

Healthcare Price Transparency
Out-of-pocket costs shouldn't be a mystery. The Procedure Price Lookup tool was the first product to make estimated procedure costs publicly available to Medicare beneficiaries, giving people real information before they needed care. We've continued building on that foundation ever since.
Open Access to Quality of Care Data
Accurate cost estimates depend on modern tools. We replaced legacy downloadable pricing software with web-based applications that providers and payers can actually use, making the payment calculation process faster and more reliable for everyone in the chain.
Everyone deserves to know the quality of care they can expect from their provider. We expanded on our work making dialysis facility data public and built the system that brings hospital quality metrics to every facility in the country. That data is available today on Medicare.gov.
